Sridhar Vembu to Step Down as CEO of Zoho; Relieved to Focus on Science Position
Sridhar Vembu, co-founder and long-time CEO of Chennai-based cloud services company Zoho, is leaving the position of CEO. Vembu will move into the role of Chief Scientist, where he will focus on Zoho’s deep research and development (R&D) initiatives and his personal mission for rural development

On X, Vembu shared a post. “A new chapter begins today. In light of challenges and opportunities, especially recent advancements in AI, it is best for me to focus full-time on R&D initiatives and my rural development mission.” He emphasized his shift to a full-time role dedicated to these causes.


Co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey will now succeed as Group CEO. Mr. Tony Thomas, another co-founder, will manage the company’s operations in the US. Mr. Rajesh Ganesan will handle the ManageEngine division. Mani Vembu, another key leader, will manage the Zoho.com division.


Under Vembu’s leadership, Zoho became one of the largest players in the SaaS market. Its software has everything from cloud suite tools: productivity, collaboration, sales, marketing, and back-office accounting using softwares made by giants such as Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, Oracle. More than 700,000 customers located in over 150 countries are now served by Zoho; at the same time, it supports over 100 million users through its more than 55+ business applications.
